Can you ward off signs of aging and still stick to your anti-acne routine?
A frequent question we get is how to add anti-aging products while still using anti-acne products to maintain clear skin.
Just have to interject one quick fact before we continue with this blog. There is no such thing as anti-aging products, or procedures for that matter. You cannot fully ward off signs of aging, which is why we call our line ‘age-defying.’ These products are intended to address aging skin and slow down the aging process.
Alright – continuing with our post…..
There is a belief that one can’t address aging skin at the same time they are treating their acne breakouts. People are convinced they can’t do both.
Maybe it’s because they conclude that in order to prevent wrinkles one needs to moisturize, moisturize and (you guessed it) moisturize their skin. However general ‘wisdom’ says that moisturizing acne prone skin will exacerbate pimples. Not true! Not all moisturizers are clogging! You can moisturize (and wear sunscreen) and not break out! It’s all in the ingredients.
We have a couple of awesome age defying products that we recommend for everyone (heck I even have my 11 year old using it!). Topical Vitamin C (cream or gel) is an amazingly effective tool in the prevention of fine lines and wrinkles. Vitamin C is the coolest because it can be fully absorbed by the skin, cannot be washed off once it is absorbed and remains effective for up to 12 hours once it is applied. Yes, you might be ingesting a healthy amount of Vitamin C in your diet but there is no guarantee that the Vitamin C that you eat will go directly to your skin. The only way to guarantee that is by applying it directly to the skin.
Vitamin C is a powerful anti-oxidant which in addition to preventing fine lines and wrinkles can even out skin tone, help fade hyperpigmentation, promote collagen production, and help protect against sun damage by rendering free radicals neutral.
Why use an eye cream? Lots of reasons actually.
- The skin around your eye is the thinest of any part of your body.
- It is drier due to no oil glands.
- It is more sensitive.
And because of these factors…the skin around your eyes is going to show signs of aging sooner than other parts of your body.
So what does an an age defying/anti-acne skincare routine potentially look like?
