Do Pimple Patches Really Work? Pamela Weighs In

        January 14, 2026

One of our favorite things about the Ninja Skincare community is the thoughtful questions you ask—and how those conversations often help others navigating the same skin concerns. In this post, we’re sharing an excerpt from a real email exchange between Pamela and a longtime Ninja Skincare client who wanted Pamela’s honest take on the ever-popular pimple patches popping up everywhere. From what they actually contain to whether they’re worth your money, Pamela breaks it down with her signature no-nonsense, results-focused approach to acne care.

        Client Email:

        Hi Pamela and Ninja Team,

I keep seeing Hero pimple patches everywhere and was curious about your perspective on them. I’ve been using Ninja Skincare since 2017 and have learned so much from you all over the years, so I always value your guidance.

My initial thought is that since they don’t contain active medication, they may help protect the area and keep it clean, but may not address the underlying cause of breakouts. I’d love to hear your thoughts on whether they’re helpful, and if so, how you recommend using them—or when they’re not the best option.

Thank you, as always, for everything you do.

        Pamela’s Response:

        Thanks for your question!

Most (if not all) acne patches contain salicylic acid. That is a topical medication. However, the percentage is very low as compared to our salicylic acid medicine.
I think they are fine to use if you want to spend the money, but you would be better off doing a spot treatment with the salicylic and benzoyl peroxide, covered by the Abolishing Sulfur Mask on a large pimple and sleeping with it overnight. Of course use the salicylic and benzoyl all over your face to prevent new breakouts, but if you have a persistent one, spot treat it over the meds.
I’m not a fan of having 15 things in the bathroom to choose from – I like simplicity. So if your topical medication can be used in a different way, like spot treating that is always my go-to. You could also take a Band-Aid and soak it with your salicylic and apply it to a large pimple. This is way stronger than the Hero pimple patches.
Hope that answers your question. Thanks again for your orders and I’m glad we are able to help you with your skin!
