Topical Vitamin C – What it is and why you should be using it
January 29, 2021
How Vitamin C helps fight aging – and other lifestyle choices you can make to slow down fine lines and wrinkles
Sadly, there are no unicorns or fairies….and double sadly, none of us is immune to aging.
Every culture in the history of the world has searched for the elusive Fountain of Youth. Chemists and marketing companies have touted new developments and lead people to believe that by applying a cream or serum, they will magically erase existing signs of aging or perhaps to stop it all together.
We are here to tell you… that is not the truth.
There is no cream or serum on the planet that removes or stops aging on your skin. There are some ways to look younger if you are willing to go under the knife or get some injections every few months. But aside from having medical intervention, there’s not anything magical out there. While we are at it, we should also mention there are no fairies and unicorns either.
Despite this bleak news, there is some good news. There ARE effective creams, serums and lifestyle choices that will SLOW DOWN the aging process.
MOST EFFECTIVE WAYS TO SLOW DOWN THE AGING PROCESS:
1. Keep the sun rays off your skin. Always.
If you are in the sun, wear a wide-brimmed hat, long sleeves and sunscreen. Apply sunscreen 30 minutes before sun exposure to clean skin and re-apply every 2 hours if you’re sweating or in the water.
2. Stay hydrated. Drink plenty of water.
3. Avoid excessive alcohol and caffeine consumption.
4. Don’t do drugs.
5. Don’t smoke.
6. SLEEP at least 7-9 hours a night.
7. Don’t stress out. (HA!)
8. Ingest antioxidants and apply them to your skin. One of the most effective antioxidants is Vitamin C.
9. Apply Vitamin C topically to your skin every day.
#1-8 are lifestyle choices for the most part.
If you’re wondering how you’re going to pull off #9, we have your answer, and it won’t make you break out nor break the bank.
Topically applied Vitamin C is as close as it comes to a miracle serum for your skin. It is a potent anti-oxidant with a long active life on the skin and it’s great at absorbing and neutralizing free radicals that damage live skin cells. What is a free radical? Sounds groovy. But they are not. 🙂
A free radical is a waste product resulting from normal metabolic body processes. They are unstable left over parts of an atom or molecule that we don’t need. Our bodies naturally produce free radicals, but there are external factors that speed their formation – like sun exposure, drugs, alcohol consumption, smoking, stress etc.
Topical Vitamin C intercepts and neutralizes many of those free radicals before they literally tear apart live skin cells, thereby slowing the aging process.
It’s very potent – staying active once applied to the skin for up to 12 hours, which is a LONG TIME in the skin care world.
Regardless if you’re 18, 32 or over 60 do your best to follow a healthy lifestyle (#1-8) and apply vitamin C to your skin daily. It’s never too late to prevent premature aging and to slow down normal aging.
